The tuner doesn't hear anything

Allow the microphone: on iPhone, go to Settings › Apps › Tuner › Microphone and turn it on. On the website in Safari, go to Settings › Apps › Safari › Microphone. Then tap the red dot. Play one string at a time, close to the phone.

How do I pick a tuning?

Tap the tuning name above the strings, for example "Standard". There are 32 tunings, including drop, open, modal, 7-string, bass and ukulele, and you can change the reference pitch from 415 to 466 Hz.

How do I tune a string that's far off?

Tap that string. It locks the tuner to that note and plays it so you can hear the target. When you're more than half a step away, the screen says Tune up or Tune down. Tap the string again to unlock it.

How does the metronome work?

Open Time, tap the red dot to start, and use − / + or drag the number to set the tempo (30–300 BPM). Tap Tap Tempo along with the music to set it by ear. Tap Beats to change how many beats are in a bar. The first beat is accented.

The click is quiet or silent

Turn up the media volume. The app plays even with the ringer switch on silent. If you use Bluetooth headphones, the click plays through them.
